The blog touches upon the importance of health, in our 'busy' life and how Coaching could be helpful in de-congesting your life.

I am writing this note from my experience as a Strategic Business/People Advisor to a few companies in India and abroad and a Leadership transformation coach.

During the last three years, during/post-Covid, many people - some formally retired, some took early retirement (like me), and some who are young and wanted to explore - decided to start their work, broadly, due to:

  • Create a work-life balance – to spend quality time with family.

  • Ensure that the mind and body are active.

  • Explore the unknown – to experiment – ready to take a risk.

  • Not get bogged down in a “glass” room – not to be felt “bossed by.”

Psychologically, I could identify that most of us do this, broadly, due to “suffocation”, “helplessness”, “trap of contentment”, “unsatisfied”, “not to be stressed”, and “being joyful”.

However, irrespective of these spelled-out or non-spelled-out reasons, all wanted to be “successful”, and most wanted to run a “business”. The definition of success also varies among people. A business is a commercial transaction process with a revenue and profit planned and accounted for. When the planning does not happen, the company goes into a loss, and usually, it will have a gestation period of “withstanding ability”. Beyond this, it becomes unsustainable.

However, my concern or need your views are on the below aspects:

  • Most of the “retired” people are busy. However, irrespective of their busyness, they are not happy and stressed. Why?

  • Some of them who are running a “business” feel that their business is not picking up, as many of their contemporaries indicate that their business is thriving, and they have little time. If so, will we not be stressed? Are we not justifying our actions to our current needs? Are we happy?

  • If we realize that we made a mistake in planning/judgment (it is possible), what stops us from accepting this reality and taking necessary actions around it, rather than again living in an “illusionary” world?

  • Is our current wealth insufficient to manage our lives, or is our definition of wealth misleading?

  • Did we miscalculate our competency to make wealth (by running a business or otherwise) vis-à-vis what the market is looking for? Are we ready to accept this “seemingly not-so-difficult” fact?

  • Is it our felt need to “prove to others our self-worthiness”, “pride getting pierced”, “restlessness”, or “am I not worth like others - lack of self-worth” is an issue?

  • When can we be more realistic than “pretentious”? Does it help us?

  • Knowing fully well without sustainable health, we cannot create wealth. Does our focus need to be more balanced?

With an excellent professional coach, many of these “external” elements could be laid to rest and be a more effective person. Your thoughts would help me widen my understanding.

Happy Healthy Life!
